The overall impression after reading member posts is that the rank and file just can not wait for that new McIntosh, cash in hand ready to buy, you will never guess by reading these posts that we are in the midst of a deep recession and even a depression for many.
Like it or not this is going to have an impact on the high end electronics industry, what they have to offer are highly discretionary items and the market can evaporate if they continue to offer more and more expensive products aimed at a smaller segment of the market.

This was a common occurance at Hewlett-Packard for the 20+ years I was there. I would worry more if it _wasn't_ happening.
Think about it, we're talking about a number of sales guys for parallel lines of business under D&M (one of them Mac gear) all calling on the same set of executives. Consilidation like this makes sense, IMHO.
Let's hope, though, that the general economic situation doesn't hit all those lines of business at the same time. I don't follow companies like D&M enough to know what the trends are, though.

It's about 20" tall. Very few in existence. If the style looks familiar it is because Erte copied Duvernet. It dates back to 1920.

Not to mention getting enough sleep.
Good to know there'll be more classic Mc instruments out there. Some of the saddest sites are trashed Mc gear. I was thinking about sending some first-gen SS units to Terry but he seems awfully busy. Am going to do much of the servicing myself, digging into the amplifiers first. Some parts have arrived, but not all of them. We had a company meeting yesterday where the 'pres' frankly went over what the economic climate looks like, and what our company strategy is in the next year.

McIntosh has always been the most sound investment in audio gear. Older used models are usually fully depreciated at this point. An increasing customer base chasing a fixed amount of used units will assure they retain their value.
