Changing speaker binding post Mcintosh LS360

I purchased my speakers used. One of the binding post has always had the plastic protection plug jammed in there where a banana plug would go. I have tried to get it out over the years. Finally, I have decided to just replace the binding post. I took out the bottom woffer and had a peak at the crossover. There are brass nuts on the crossover with the back of the binding post attaching. Looks like I have to remove the crossover too as I'm guessing there is another nut behind it holding the crossover in place? Have not yet called Mcintosh yet. Thinking that if I am going to go through the hassle, I might upgrade the binding post to some higher end ones like WBT. The ones on it now looks very similiar to the Connex models?

I've yet to have one that I couldn't get out with a jewelers screwdriver, needle nose & some patience.
 
I've tried needle nose pliers and a small screw driver. Chuck Hinton even gave me a few tips. It worked last year when I finally got the other one that I had been having trouble removing . I've tried everything with this one. The binding post is a little, "beat up," for all of my determination. Only option now is to change it out. Trying to figure if the WBT ones will fit so at least I can make an upgrade while I'm at it. Looks like crossovers have to come out too. Nothing that looks that complicated. Big ass magnets on the LS360 woofers! I like that.
 
Those binding posts may more tightly integrated with the crossovers than you think...
I remember seeing a picture of them some place, but I can't seem to find it.
Those are good solid connectors on those speakers, I wouldn't mess with them; as they say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" ..just my $.02
 
Finally figured an easy way to get plastic plug out of binding post. I used a very small drill bit and drilled a hole into it. I was then able to get it out.
 
I was just about to suggest a thing called "easy-out" - a reverse thread puller gizmo; but it sounds like you got it!
 
You try a very sharp thin-blade knife? I had an issue with a Mc binding post before, just poke and pull or get under it and pop it out...
