Charged up from handling records??

I scored some excellent classical vinyl today.
About 10 UK decca SXL's,
Deutsche grammophons.
Philips
MelodiaEurodisc.
I've been going through them gradind them and playing some.
Several times just as I went to put the record on I got that static charge release from my finger to the turntable.
The first thought that goes through your mind is that something is faulty in the turntable and the turntable is charged up.

I've also experienced this once whilst walking beside my wife.
Each time our elbows brushed there was that static release.

Anyone else experienced this.

Static charge build up is normal especially in carpeted homes. I experience the crackle often when handling my records. Do you have an anti-static gun? I wouldn't worry about your TT, especially if you have it properly grounded.

I recently bought an anti-static brush from the Mapleshade Store online. Amazing improvement. I always try to buy very clean used LPs, run them through a Spin Clean and use Discwasher before each play. Turns out a lot of the pops, clicks and scritchines I thought was surface noise has actually been static all along. It's a painful realization, but suddenly every record I own sounds way better than I imagined it could. Best $40 I've ever spent on this hobby.
