Had to throw it in, because most audiophiles would not be that spend crazy to buy the super expensive electronic components.

Take for instance very expensive speaker wire. IMHO.. It is foolish to buy any unless you go inside your amp then rewire the wires from the speaker terminals to the outputs with the same wire and go inside your speakers and rewire them with the same wire. To do otherwise will mean that the benefits gained by the $$$ speaker wire will be offset by the other wiring that is left original.
 
Where did you bought the kit from? Must not be us. This kit is quite new product for us and only had been sold a few recently. Even the first shipped are not arrived yet. This kits are easy to build. If all wires are corect, almost not adjustment needed. Of course if you want to get good sound, proper wiring and ground must be concerned.

Never did get it to work. Keg and I spent a few days talking about it. I forget what wire it was but one of the wires on the PT got so hot I refused to complete the kit not to mention you had to drill holes to get the transformers to fit. The chassis is Stainless steel and is a real pain to drill.

Has anybody here ordered this yet? I want to know once an example has been built and tested.

I'm interested, too. I can't afford the usual offerings as much as I'd like, and by and large I'm a klutz at building things. I could always purchase this and place it in the hands of a qualified techie and see what kind of sound quality I can produce with my efficient Klipsch Fortes (98db). Tubes and Klipsch are highly recommended, and this might be the fleapower amp at the right price to find out. Unless anyone out there wants to lend me a tube integrated to find out? Anyone? Didn't think so. I'll never know till I get off the fence or someone helps me with a loaner.
 
Michaelhigh. If you were to post your location, I am pretty sure a local AKer would lend you a piece of gear.

I'm with you. I cannot afford excellent quality tube gear so what I have been doing is buying vintage vacuum tube stuff that suits my needs and restoring it.
 
build the circuit triode strapped and remove the global feedback loop.

or build it as a pentode, add an RC stage for the screens and use kegs idea of local feedback.

I'd prefer triode and nix the feedback... it's also simpler.

you COULD implement a switch for feedback and a switch for triode/pentode however it complicates things.

again, a nice kit for the price IMO!


I like that kit! I've actually bought a china pcb with a very similar circuit and modified it....sounded nice but used 12at7 and el84...
 
Building it stock is the easiest build and least likely to have an issue with building it wrong. All the instructions, such as they are, apply directly to his build, no confusion as to which do apply and which don't. Once built and operating, the builder can then make the personal decision to mod or not, based upon his personal choice.

seems pretty logical to me.

build it stock and know you have options to mod it later is all. :)
 
My Dynaco SCA-35 employs a similar feedback scheme, and it sounds exceptionally good. I did some other mods on it (mainly in the bias -- the EFB mod), but first I restored the amp to close to its original specs. That way I had something to compare the mod to. It's good to have a baseline so you know if the mod is to your liking. Or you may decide you like it just as it is.
