Cheap Magnavoxes or Pricey RTRs?

Currently contemplating two deals I can get on some speakers. The first is a pair of Magnavoxes Balancer speakers I can get for $5 at a thrift store closing next week. I originally came to check some RTR Series IV Model B's, but someone picked them up before I did. However, I've already known the guy for a couple months, so maybe I could pose a trade with some video gaming gear (he collects that, too). However, I could actually pay depending on how much work he's done on fixing them. I can't get both speakers, as my mother would have a fit with me putting in not one but two sets of larger speakers.

I've heard good things for both speakers (links at bottom), so I need an opinion on which is better, as both seem to be relatively unknown (possibly due to their inferiority to $800 Klipsch's :D).

What should I do? Cheap Magnavoxes that'll only be there for a week, or later RTRs that I'm not even sure the guy'll part with?

Thanks!

Magnavox (good mentions, but I'm kind of skeptical)- http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/magnavox-balancer-series-speakers.673171/
