Cheap replacement for the rubber rings in SpinClean rollers?

My rollers need replacing, but really all that is worn is the rubber rings. The rollers themselves still have life in them. Of course the company doesn't sell just the rubber rings, and I find $20 for a pair of new rollers (plus tax/shipping) a bit of a rip-off. Has anyone found generic rubber rings that work? They need to be square in profile, which is the tricky part.

Some hardware stores and car parts stores will carry flat o'rings. Just measure the old rubber or the wheel itself if the rubber is gone. Be sure if you measure the plastic wheel to reduce the size a little for a snug fit.
 
Yes, square profile O rings can be found somewhere if dimensions are known.

I did such a search online last year for one to fit a cassette deck idler. The source was a US supplier who would not ship direct to me in Canada so I also had to locate a Canadian vendor for that supplier’s products.

Minimum quantity was ten and then the shipping. End cost was more than what was mentioned for the Spin Clean rollers.

Unless you happen to find the needed piece at a local outlet, or someone on this forum can provide them, the easiest and likely the cheapest solution is opting for a new pair of rollers.
 
Maybe something along these lines would work for you?

Might take a bit of searching to find the suitable sizes. Further, I am not certain Nitrile is suitable and would properly work, but perhaps further searches, instead of Nitrile, perhaps there are also Neoprene O-Rings listed as well?

I assume what you are looking for is the O-Rings that will fit these Rollers, correct?
If you can measure the O-ring that would be easiest I'd think, otherwise measure the Roller Dimensions. I'd guess a slightly smaller diameter would be needed, so you have a snug fit.

I would call them and ask for replacements. This is an extremely inexpensive item, so I would think they would send them out for free or nearly free. With that said, thee is no way those are a proprietary component. They are buying them from somewhere. If you have a caliper, or are good with a tape measure, measure it up. Then go to mcmastercarr.com and search for that oring or square oring. McMaster has an unbelievable selection of items, but you will likely have to buy a bag of 100, and then pay shipping. I'd start with a call to SpinClean.
 
I just bought a set of flat o-rings from theoringstore.com that fit perfectly. Their part number is SN70115, and the dimensions are 11/16"ID X 7/8"OD X 3/32"CS. They are only 15 cents a piece, but the minimum order is $5, and shipping was $9.95. But, for less than the price of one set of replacement rollers you can get a lifetime supply of replacement rings.
 
New Spin Clean rollers I bought aren't the same as the ones with the cheap rubber inserts. I think they are some kind of ceramic or tough nylon, much better!

Do they stay in their slots any better than the originals when using with 45s & 10" LPS or 78s? I have 2 spin cleans, problem same on both. One side, usually left, wants to climb up out of its groove when turning disc clockwise.

Yes! Works much better now. Will last much longer too. The old rollers I had both have big grooves in them. These new ones I had for a while. Hardly any marks on them! I use the Amazon Studebaker washer for the rinse cycle with Spin Clean brushes.

So where did you find those, spin-clean itself or something repurposed? I periodically do production cleaning for the thrift store I volunteer at, I'm the record curator there among many other things. We run on donations, many lps that come in, if a high-demand but otherwise dirty but undamaged, I'll bring home & do a pile at a time until the "bath water" is filthy, hence the 2nd s-c for a rinse bath if needed. Then, I can put a premium on a good-to- go record.

Well, it's for a local county humane society. All proceeds from our store fund operations at the shelter, so how can I not? Can't think of a better cause, even if I occasionally question upper-echelon management's judgment. Besides, I get to preview all kinds of off-the-wall records during cleaning sessions. I have a system set up in kitchen. Clean a batch, after drying, pull one for a spin, repeat. A win for me!
 
I have considered modifying the rollers & tub to employ axles thru the rollers. Had to drill thru the roller axles first. Next is measuring for where exactly to drill the reservoir slots for axle installation. Axle material not too critical, I have lots of things to try out.
 
FYI, I can confirm that the o-rings listed below work well as replacements for the o-rings on the Spin Clean rollers. I bought 5 for $3.99 shipped from eBay seller "swint101"
I taped the extras to the lid of my Spin Clean so I wouldn't lose them.

115 O-ring. 11/16" ID x 7/8" OD x 3/32" thick. Buna-70. Quan 5.

Is cross-section round like normal o-rings or square like what's factory-supplied on rollers?
 
Their cross-section is in between the two. They are flat across the top and bottom surface (laying flat on a table), and the outer edge is round.
Despite not being completely square (like a garden hose washer) like the originals, they are working well so far as replacements.
