THAT GUY is probably clueless what an LP even means.........Loving Politician:scratch2:

Sounds like an opportunity.....keep me posted on how it goes! Too far for me (Delaware eastern shore), and it would disrupt my Golf game:smoke:

You can bet I'll sure try. Saturday morning is busy, but this is worthy of some creative re-shuffling.

I'll be the one with a girl on either arm. :nerd:

I would, but the subdivision I live in is having a community sale saturday.. I'm hoping for more than just albums..

Just mapquested it. I wish it were going on today it is only about 1/4 mile from where I work. I am pretty sure I will be there. I Hope it is not a water damaged, scratched POS waste my time.

Hmmm...sounds like there is a lot of potential. Bring you boxing gloves as you may need to fight the others off.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

Well I went. Man was this crazy event. This guy had well over 5000 lps and lots of good titles mainly classic rock. Must have been 20 other people picking while I was there. The down side: The records were in cramped basement of a townhouse that should be condemned. No electricity, the building had massive water damage and there was mold. The seller was running a generator right outside so while I was looking I was getting a mild buzz from the CO2 from the generator and the mold in the room. I did not stay long for this reason but did walk away with about 100 lps. Got some Hendrix, Stones, Traffic, Who, Beatles, Steely Dan, Byrds, Van Morrison, Talking Heads, Johnny Cash and a lot more. Most in NM condition except for the musty jackets.

100 lps! I swear Spart, you probably score more vinyl in a month than I have accumulated in my entire life.

Way to go.

Spartan's description of the event is pretty accurate, so I won't say the same thing with different words.

I picked up about 30 records or so. Led Zeppelin, Stones, Steely Dan, Aretha Franklin, Abba, BeeGees (I *used to be* a closet disco fan), Kansas, Van Halen, Queen, SuperTramp, Beatles, Yes, Wynton Marsalis, Aerosmith, and a few more I can't think of. All in at least acceptable condition. Some look almost new.

But the real score was the mint Walt Disney "It's a Small World", and the free donuts. We just went to Disney World a few weeks ago and has been the girl's favorite song ever since. They were duly entertained and managed to buy me at least another 10 minutes. I was there less than a half hour, though. I probably could have stuck around for another 30 minutes and netted as many records had I been solo.

The guy running the affair was really nice and we chatted for a few minutes about our record collecting. He is going to continue to leave the operation open for a couple more days and then toss whatever is not gotten rid of. I have his contact info if anyone is interested in going over in the next couple of days that was not able to make it over today. I promise you'll walk away with something.

I wanted to thank spartan for the heads up. I would have missed this one otherwise.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I paid no where near the .50 advertised more like .25 a piece. I went through all that I got and would say there were only 8 clunkers in the bunch. Kind of shame as they were early Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.

I could have staid longer as well but my wife was over it pretty much 15 minutes into it.

Wow that sounds like alot of fun - I wish the sale was in the other washington. :tears:

Were you guys able to go through all the boxes? Were they on tables or on the floor? I think I'd need those extra days to get through 5000 records in a cramped basement :D

There was no organization and no room with boxes everywhere. On the floor on tables on shelves with too many people in the small nasty space.......it was a blast....lol
