Check out this big rack!!!

elgato8905

Nobody special.
Not that kind of rack you perverts...:D I'm talking about the new (to me...) audio rack I scored today. The other day I realized that I was tired of looking at my gear sitting all over the place so I decided it was time to find some kind of rack to put my stuff on. The rack gods must have been smiling on me because after scouring CL for about an hour I came across this. The seller had it listed for $60.00 but when I got there he told me he would take $30.00 for it because it was left out in the rain and the screws were a little rusted. I brought it home and took off the screws and buffed them out then I spray painted them with some flat black Rust O Leum. I cleaned the dust and dirt off the rest of it and this is what I came out with. A pretty kick ass rack if you ask me:banana:. Unfortunatly, it's not wide enough to hold my Yamaha and Pioneer stuff but finding something for them is next on my list. Now I can finally show off some of my gear with pride!!!:thmbsp::smoke:

P.S. Does anyone have any good ideas for something to hold the wide stuff???:scratch2:

One hell of a nice rack for $30.00. Possibly you can wall hang your other components on either side using black braces which would make your entire system look uniform. The larger Pioneers could "breath" nice and easy that way:thmbsp:

Man that`s some rack!! Must be 5' tall Nice!! :D

It actually stands 65" with the casters. It even came with three extra various size shelves and mounting screws for them and a super long power strip that attaches to the back. The cool thing is that you can adjust the shelves to any configuration you want.

Nice!

Do you rotate pieces in and out or is everything hooked up?

No... Nothing is hooked up yet. I plan on leaving some of my favorite heavy stuff in there and rotating the other stuff in and out. That is what's cool about it. If you want to hook something new up all you have to do is unlock the casters and turn it around and it's super easy access.

Looks like a Middle Atlantic Slim5 rack. If so, it's a very good piece- that model is made lighter/narrower to fit confined spaces, so be careful that it's braced well if you roll it around. You'll also want the weight biased low, as it's a small footprint for the casters and a light weight rack.

Nice score, I'd have jumped on that deal.

Racks ROCK

I've had all my gear in a rack for the past 30 years.

Like they say.......

Once you go rack you never go back

.

Yep!!! You hit it right on the nose!!! It is a Middle Atlantic! It still has some of the M/L stickers on it. I did some research on the companys website earlier today. From what I saw... This thing was easily worth over $1000.00 new.

Sounds like a good plan. :thmbsp:

I had that problem once and solved it by adding a wider shelf on top..I't would'nt hurt to install an open/close eye hook with picture hanging wire (if you can) from the ceiling or behind the rack if it becomes too top heavy. Dont want that baby toppling over.....

Nice rack!! :lmao: But seriously, a really nice place to put your gear, such as this one is, delights the heart of a man, and is the scourge of many women. It tends to make sounds in the room like "Where are you gunna put all them WIRES?" :smlove: JMO.

Nice rack, to both Elgato8905 and Lastplace. :)

I ended up with a huge Bell'O from the local dump this past spring. Tall, wide, holds a ton of gear. Couldn't be happier. I nearly choked when I read it was a $700 piece of hardware.
