Hey everyone!
I've always been a avid supporter of Right-to-Repair and reusing vintage equipment (ask me about my love of vintage Minolta & Soviet lenses which I adapt to my mirrorless camera). I recently bought a Pioneer SX-1000TW from its original owner, a veteran who had bought it from the PACEX catalog in 1970 while he was in Vietnam. I was really drawn by his story about what it meant to him, seeing the receiver in that catalog and thinking about what his life could be like if he got out. It's cosmetically in beautiful shape and runs but has audio issues which I'll ask about in a separate thread after I've spent more time educating myself about receiver diagnostics and restoration. I'm planning to use it in my small home office with a pair of Mission 8VET bookshelf speakers which one of my university professors gave me.
I'm currently working on an updated master spreadsheet of replacement parts available in 2024 for the SX-1000TW as some components listed in previous AK threads are now EOL and/or out of stock: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pwHhblb3Yb-sZ5q38TTOjHQaO7s-wM-5ZeP-pt79bYc/edit. If anyone is interested in contributing, I've made it open to all for commenting and can add edit access to anyone who wants. I have some past experience with this sort of data gathering and sharing, having created aperturepedia.com during the pandemic as a resource for myself and others researching and comparing vintage SLR camera lenses.
AK seems like a great community and I'm excited to be here!
