New Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid
I'd have to say that with this in mind the Chevy Volt , Ford Fusion Energi Hybrids ,plug ins , Focus electrics etc. may be a good move for both future technology C.A.F.E.compliance market competition etc. If the Honda slots in between
the Volt and Prius in the marketplace that could be interesting . Then there is Ford Fusion hybrid also ?
Technological giants like BMW,Toyota ,VW and Ford are cooking Up their own formulas and are likely to be competitive in the near future .
Honda might be interesting to watch they have been market disruptors more than once in the past maybe a dark horse you never know ? Honda is a very capable engineering talent. Honda schooled Detroit,Europe even Toyota along with the rest of the world on efficient automotive technology and quality a few years back not to mention what they did with motorcycles years earlier .
If anybody could come up with an efficient well working convenient drivable solution it could be Honda. They usually sort their stuff out pretty good before they come to market with a major automotive technology .
The Volt and the Prius both seem to be leading the pack right now.
Ford is soon to be right on their tail .
Ford Another one to watch .
they just might be a recently awakened sleeping giant here.
VW Porsche / Audi would bear watching as well They are a technological conglomerate with the engineering resources of VW Porsche and Audi all in one group not to mention their longstanding ties with Bosch and Siemens.
and a fat wallet .
Of course it almost goes without saying the same is true for BMW .
Toyota ...one could argue is leading the pack right now
OH can't forget Hyundai Kia either .
Lastly Fiatsler.. they are coming late to the party with some hybrids also but for now they are having battery overheating problems right now so testing is temporarily halted.
Sergio Marchionne has said in the past " I'm still not positively disposed toward hybrids, but the company will be will be forced to begin producing them to meet 2025 emission mandates " he also stated "I have no other way of getting to 2025 CAFE numbers than by going to hybrids," Imagine a multi air hybrid ? One has to appreciate his honesty there are two reasons everybody is making them in the first place after all!
