I love the thrill of the hunt. We have some great music stores in Cleveland. I'll hunt 'em down used and buy for cheap:thmbsp:
Enjoy the hunt, nothing like digging and finding gems! You can't go wrong with any of his music. In NYC we have The Jazz Record Center with a great selection of Jazz but even there one might find only a percentage of Monk's vast catalog.
Whenever I find a Monk record I get it if I don't already have it and the price is right (or even if I do have if it is better in condition or a different pressing)
I use Spotify to listen to recommended music I am not familiar with and would be hard to casually find at record stores, also at many record shops one can't listen to the records; then see if I can get it on the 'bay or other sources. I was recently reading a book on the history of jazz and it had many artists I was not well acquainted with, like Grachan Moncur (seek out Evolution, or Blue Monk - Blue Note Plays Monk's Music where Moncur, Gil Evans, McCoy Tyner and others play Monk's music)

Yeah, I think you concluded right.
The material from the Rollins suggestion above is on that Prestige box I mentioned, and they are great tunes. I'm not sure if ALL of that album is on the box or not, though, so if you go the box route make sure to check.
Heck I enjoy those Rollins/Monk tunes so much that I plan on checking myself.
Does anybody know the answer to this?

Off topic, but if you dig Moncur check out his work with the Farmer/Golson Jazztet. Here And Now and Another Git Together are fantastic, IMO.
