I suggest a subscription to Spotify.com where you can listen to the albums suggested to find out which ones you like.

I love the thrill of the hunt. We have some great music stores in Cleveland. I'll hunt 'em down used and buy for cheap:thmbsp:

I use Spotify to listen to recommended music I am not familiar with and would be hard to casually find at record stores, also at many record shops one can't listen to the records; then see if I can get it on the 'bay or other sources. I was recently reading a book on the history of jazz and it had many artists I was not well acquainted with, like Grachan Moncur (seek out Evolution, or Blue Monk - Blue Note Plays Monk's Music where Moncur, Gil Evans, McCoy Tyner and others play Monk's music)

Off topic, but if you dig Moncur check out his work with the Farmer/Golson Jazztet. Here And Now and Another Git Together are fantastic, IMO.
