Choices for Pre-Amp - SL1400 Mk1

Good morning.

I am currently running a Schiit Mani 2 with my Marantz 6200 with a Denon AVR. My second tunrtable, which is a Technics SL-1400 MK1, is currently plugged into the Denon directly at the Phono input. There is a marked difference between the sound quality between the two - phono input vs the Line In option through Schiit Mani 2 . Is there a way to connect both turntables to the Mani 2 and switch between the two without introducing interference or distortion? If not, do you guys recommend the Mani2 or the Zen or something else that doesnt break your bank?

Also, since I bought the SL1400 used from a record store, I found out last night that I have to bend and pinch the RCA cables coming out the back of the turntable at a certain spot (around 3-4 inches after it comes out of the turntable) for both channels to work. I dont have skills to resolder the wires inside the TT, so am wondering if this is a known issue considering the age, and how I go about cutting the existing wires 2-3 inches out from the TT and then connecting them to a new RCA cable set. Not sure if this would solve my problem because I cannot fur sure say where the break may be.

Looking for ideas and suggestions.

Thanks.
