Aw ****, just was reading about and remembering him the other day. Fantastic and talented driver, another Kiwi in the mold of Bruce (McLaren) and Denny (Hulme). He was fast, fast, fast, but had a penchant for driving for teams when their cars were less reliable (Ferrari) or fast enough. When he drove a McLaren M8B at Laguna and Riverside Can Am in 69 (when his Ferrari 612 died because they only had one engine), he was just as fast as B&D. Amon Won LeMans with McLaren in the GT40 Mk. II because of the controversial 3 way dead heat finish that Ford brass wanted, depriving Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby of the win.
