I do. I have all of his recordings. The latest one is interesting in that the material is all great Sun Records hits from the '50's and early '60's. I always wondered what he could do with a Roy Orbison song and now I know.

His band is REALLY tight, too.

count me in...

I made myself a mix CD from 4 discs: Heart Shaped World 1989, Forever Blue 1995, Speak of the Devil 1998, Always Got Tonight 2002. Just picking the songs I really love from each of the these discs and also in chronological order. Good stuff.

EDIT: Speaking of Roy Orbison, the song "Things Go Wrong" on Forever Blue reminds me of Roy Orbison, in particular the chorus part where the song gets louder.

Saw him in concert at Freedom Hill in Sterling Heights about 8 or 9 summers ago. Great show. A lot of fun.

The guy can sing, and it's amazing to see the effect he has on women.

He has one of my favorite lines in all of rock 'n' roll in Wicked Game: It's strange what desire will make foolish people do.

Yep, saw him here with the Wallflowers in '95. Have a few of his releases. My wife was mesmerized. He's a straightforward performer with that '50's rockabilly vibe, very very good show. Good grief, that was probably the last concert we've seen - save for some local stuff. We really need to get out more.

Heart Shaped World was my first CI album. I have most of his recordings.
I think Forever Blue is my favorite.
He is an outstanding singer and a great entertainer. And if you see him live he is hilarious.

Really like Isaak. His second LP, titled Chris Isaak is my favorite, but I have six of his LP's/CD's and there's not a clunker in the bunch. BTW, the guitarist on Isaak's earlier stuff, including Wicked Game, James Willsey, has a fine CD of haunting instrumental guitar work out called El Dorado.

I still remember feeling incredibly disappointed in Heart Shaped World. I bought it in Manhattan when it first was released, and just felt it was a very weak follow up to one of my all time favorite albums, Chris Isaak. I probably need to give it another listen now that some time has passed. Water under the bridge and all that...

also loved it, esp 'Blue Spanish Sky'.
was in the Navy during the first Gulf war and had it on cassette. every time I hear Wicked Game I think of Hussein and that conflict. (meant a lot more to me than Bette Midler's 'from a distance').

Heart Shaped World is getting really hard to find on wax. I've seen them sell between $20 and $80 on evilbay. I was fortunate enough to pick it up for $1 before the current vinyl trend hit hard. And, yes it's a fantastic album. May spin that tonight, thanks for bringing it up!

Heart Shaped World on Vinyl is killer,it really sounds superb. Side two just flat out takes me away.

I had bought the Heart Shaped World CD when it first came out and my copy of it was completely worn out thru those abusive years. :D I had to pick up another copy so I could rip it to my music server plus picked up Speak of the Devil, too. I need to get some more of his stuff.

I used to think he was Roy Orbison reincarnated in a really handsome package, but as time went on, I started seeing him as the excellent musician he is. I just got his new Sun covers record, and I was pretty impressed, even if IMHO he stuck too close to the original arrangements.

He’s no doubt a very talented guy (his acting is pretty decent too), and it’s a shame he’s been pigeonholed as that “Wicked Game” guy. Still, with all the chicks he’s probably making—even in middle age—he’s laughing his ass off all the way to his next conquest. :D

And I'm listening to some Heart Shaped World right now since we mentioned it! Ahhh....what a good recording. It actually has dynamics and isn't recorded "hot".

I saw him at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO last night. Very entertaining show, the hit sounded sublime, and yes, the women get very horny around him. I felt the heat even in a large auditorium. Very enjoyable to hear a big PA and after a long hiatus from live shows, a nice reminder of what a real concert sounds like. I'll be playing live in St. Louis on December 23 with a band I played with 30 years ago at a CD release party for a St. Louis band from the late 70's called The Retros, and I'll be anxious to play Off Broadway for the first time. Big time for me.

The wife and I were visiting my sister & brother in law over Veteran's Day weekend and for some reason the BIL put on Jay Leno and Il Divo was the musical act to close the show and they performed their cover of Wicked Game with a small orchestra backing them up. To say the least, their over the top operatic rendition in Italian was wildly inappropriate.

I was so offended by that travesty I fired up my laptop and played a you tube video of Isaak peforming Wicked Game just to illustrate how badly Il Divo's interpretation misses the the spirit and tone of this lovely, haunting tune. Everybody else in the room kind of rolled their eyes and looked at each other nervously as I performed the search because I have a reputation in the family of being overly fond of the exotic, difficult and inexplicably weird in music (not undeservedly mind you :D ). In the end, they all sat still and listened through the entire video clip - impressed with Isaak's voice, musicianship and the brooding melancholy that is the hallmark of this tune and was so totally missing from Il Divo's travesty of a cover.
