Study commission by Google. Ya I trust that about as much as I trust encana when they tell you hydro fracking is safe for ground water. Sorry, eternal pessimist.

As for Chrome, good to hear that they're doing a good job at keeping the bad guys out...definitely in their best interest, as they want a huge, happy user base so they can sell targeting advertising!
 
At home I've found it to be a LOT more secure, even over IE9 and firefox... and a lot faster.. .
 
It's about all I use anymore, too. Faster, more secure, etc. Been using FF 10 Beta, too, with decent results.
 
I think having a really good anti virus program is most significant as well as using an ad block program in your preferred browser. Keeps a lot of hit and run attacks to a minimum or non existent.
 
I love Chrome. Been using it for about two years or so, and not only have I not had any security issues with it (which, given a sample size of 1 doesn't prove anything), but I find it loads pages much more rapidly than IE or FF.
 
Study only looks at 3 browsers; a long way from something worthy of being published considering the number of browsers in use and could/should have been included such as Opera, Safari and others that are more popular in Europe. Really dislike biased studies designed to support marketing claims and not neutral and honest.
 
I've used Chrome, all versions of I.E. most versions of ,Safari ,Opera and F/F. I currently have the latest versions of each . FF9 ,IE9 are pretty good .
I believe Safari is a little behind as is Opera at least on win 7 . Chrome is currently the best
all around and most secure browser IMHO . I don`t think El Reg is that biased they dis everyone given the opportunity and make a good read to boot! Seems that most members here that had recent malware drive by infections that required re formatting and re installing OS were not using Chrome . I use Chrome 99 % of the time ,with an ad block extension , Mcafee security suite and site adviser , M.S.E. along with Malewarebytes . Works for me.

Been using Chrome for a year an love it. I also use FireFox and IE, and now Kendle Fire.

I haven't seen any malware intrusions, none of the bad things that have been discussed as coming form the AK advertising banners.

Interestingly, I do see an occasional ad blocked by the Kindle browser. It just says not available.
 
I've got Chrome, IE9 and, Opera on my XP and Win7 machines and actually not experienced attacks using any of them but, I have a limited number of sites I visit. Chrome I keep trying to like but can't. With the latest version of Opera I've run into a couple of minor glitches on Win7, nothing more than a minor annoyance. IE9 seems fine but, I just have the virus fear so steer clear. FF still seems crude and unpolished with too many problems.

I especially like Opera's ability to easily resize the viewing frame; great on a netbook I am currently working with. The other browsers are a pain requiring too much scrolling or being too small to read.
 
I jumped to Chrome a few months ago and couldn't be happier. It's really fast at loading graphics and Java Script. It just blazes through everything.
