CL Find: Pioneer PL-L1000

I think it's the bit that centers the arm when it's parked cued up.

Got it...mine's clean. It seems that there would be an adjustment in the electronics somewhere.

BTW I'm in the process of upgrading to Mogami interconnects.

The V Groove is right at the end of the tonearm tube. There should be a white plastic piece that comes off the tonearm tube that sits in the groove.

Does the tonearm come straight down or does it drift back a little?

The white tip on the end of the screw that fits into the V..

(disregard the red circled bumper, from another discussion)

How equally left and right does the arm move move with the arm position control? If the arm is properly centered when up it should be pretty much equal response L to R. At the end of a record, it should return back to rest in 5.5 to 6.5 seconds. If not maybe the arm isn't centered right.

The landing point is completely mechanical, not an electrical adjustment. Several things can effect it like how well centered the arm is when it's up, or maybe out of adjustment a little from being moved around. Also check how well centered the cartridge is.

The right way is take it apart and adjust a brass nut on the shaft the stopper plate pivots on which flips up and stops the arm at the 12", 10" or 7" positions. You have to take it apart and operate it in a position you can get to that adjustment as it can take a few tries to get it right.

Or you can cheat, and with the needle bearing screws for the vertical arm bearings, adjust the centering of the arm a tiny bit which translates to much more movement out at the stylus.

Inside, there are sensors that may need to be cleaned. they are depicted on page 14 of the SM. I dont think they are adjustable. I think you would be opening a new can of worms if you tried to adjust, just my IMO.

It's not missing the record, it's just hitting the outside of the lead-in groove. I'll check it out but I doubt I'll mess with it. Thanks for the tips!

#20 "Adjust shaft holder" adjusts the position of the stop plate that flips up and stops the arm at the right point at the lead-in. It probably has some threadlock from the factory. The solenoid mechanism and stop plate (#29) on the shaft is the clunk you hear when you do an auto start.

Thanks Ed! It's back together and spinning with the new interconnects. What an awesome table.

Thanks for the pics, Ed. Mine lands just a bit too much to the outside as well. Now I can adjust it.
