CL-NE Ohio: Electro-Voice "The Empire" Speakers

12trxb is a nice triaxial driver. This is very much worth making an offer for. A couple of hundred for these would not be crazy.

Were it me I'd try starting lower than that and work your way up a bit if you had to....

One thing nice is that they're matching cabinets. Usually you see a mismatch as they originated in the mono era. Somebody would buy one, then buy or build a (so called) matching one years later when they moved up to stereo, but they usually were not truly a match.

Bought the "Empires" last night $300, I am excited to hook them up tonight to my rebuilt Fisher 500C. I have a question about the 16ohm impendence, when I put my meter on the speakers, one was 12 ohms the other was 10. Is that normal for 16 ohm drivers? I assume I connect them still to my Fishers 16 ohm taps. Should i also think about recapping these at some point? I listened to these speakers at the sellers on a cheap 90's black box stereo and they sounded nice. Really can wait to hook them to my tube setup.

I don't believe there were electrolyic caps in the crossover. Also, the earlier brown models had no easy way to access them anyway. So, I wouldn't worry so much about that.
