Well, Mike, I went up to Sellers place, there is the 1250 sitting there, he has it hooked up, it works like he said, and I'm sure it's just a belt. I did notice quite a bit of scuzz on the faceplate, as if someone played with it while they had dirty fingers. It all wiped clean, but I still need to clean it up a bit more. something was spilled on front just below tape side that stained the aluminum. I'm going to remove faceplate and polish it out. He had another tape deck sitting in a chair too, lol, a CT-F700. The 700 is apparently a great 2 head deck. It works fine but is a little sluggish, indicative of a slipping belt. So I dragged both decks home with me yesterday after a 110-mile round trip. :yes:

Well, last nite I opened both the 1250 & 700 up for inspection. They were both full of sawdust! 
I blew it out with my airgun and thankfully it was that instead of like metal shavings, lol! Everything looked good inside the 1250, except for the fact that it does indeed need a belt kit. The primary capstan belt is completely gone, as are a few other belts. I've read where the 1250 is a major PITA to replace belts in. They sure weren't kidding. I also polished up the faceplate to a little more nice lustre. I did notice one thing, this 1250 has never had any feet screwed into frame bottom, which is evidence that it was wearing a wood case when it was new. Boy I sure would like to find that case and get it back from whoever took it off. 
As for the 700, it was a breath away from shorting out the PS board as it was totally loose inside there, with the mounting screws inside of a plastic bag, laying in there. I found one wire severed, and that could be why when I tested it, one of the lights above the tape slot for the Chrome or Dolby NR does not light up and one of them stays on when it should be off, but it did play and FF/RW like it should. I re-secured PS board, and the door would not flip open either, so I checked that and found the spring completely off the hinge where it shoulda been. Thankfully the spring was still there. Now the door pops open when you push button, just like new. :yes:
