I've been of the long time opinion that, like with a lot of things, there are well designed/well made ones, and ones not so much, rather than simply being lumped as SMPS.
I agree. I have an all tube headphone amp thats built more like a flea watt tube amplifier. It has a SMPS as well. Its in its own shielded housing. Its very quiet.
And can be plugged into anything from 90v to 230v.
