I once posed in front of the railroad station in Manassas, Virginia - copied the shot Stephen Stills used for the cover of Manassas.

Wiggy that was fun. I knew we'd see Paul'd Boutique in there. I got a kick out of Freewheelin' Bob. Thought I might see Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot but probably not a street view position from the Pier. I'd bet we could come up with a few of our own. Lots of potential.

I am a complete Duane Allman / original Allman Brothers nut, so pardon me while I geek out a little:

My Photoshop skills are zero, but this thread got me thinking about my favorite record of all time, the Allman Brothers at Fillmore East. It's well known that the iconic cover shots of the band and crew with equipment and a brick wall behind them were not taken at F.E., but at Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia.

So, a little Google work listed the current address for what was Capricorn Studios as 548 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd Macon, Georgia 31201. Popped that into Street View and got the photo attached below. Comparing it with the attached cover photo shows that the now-painted wall has "short bricks" (or whatever the bricklayer term would be) every 6th course, in both shots. Plus, the surface of the alley looks similar.

I think I may have found it. Maybe I'll fool around and see if I can superimpose the two.

Making a pilgrimage to Macon is on my bucket list.

The Wilco Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album I mentioned earlier. The camera position is close but not exactt. Best I could do quickly.

Kinda cool what you can find on Google maps. Found this a couple days ago looking for a house. How about a couple planes flying that I found on satellite view.

Search for these on Google maps and go to satellite view:
