Cleaning away dust from inside a receiver

Hey Gang,

I have a Kenwood KR-9050 that is really DIRTY/DUSTY inside the cabinet, especially on the PC boards....What is the best method to clean away dust/grime from the PC Board and the rest of the interior components????

Take a soft 1" paint brush and carefully brush the dirty areas and components while holding a vacuum hose close by to suck up the dirt. Go carefully and slowly until you master the two-handed coordination so you don't go bumping around with the vacuum nozzle. After vacuuming you can then blast away with some 25 psi compressed air if you like in the less accessible places, but the vacuuming will get most of it.

I use 100psi and a soft long bristle throwaway paintbrush for all interior cleaning/dusting. then damp rag&water for final and maybe some iso alchy, using a long tool & rag to squeggy down in between things .a thin film of wd40 or somesuch makes for a nice sheen on parts, but other stuff can be used if wd scares you. a final blo off and I'm done.

ive had great results with crc electronic contact cleaner. it evaporates in a jiffy. and it leaves a pile of the grime (stuff that comes off the circuit boards) great stuff if ya ask me.

CRC was a staple on my bench all the yrs I was a tech at HP(30). grate stuff.

A vacuum cleaner with 'blow' capabilities is useful, helped along with an artists paintbrush; but do it OUT-DOORS, or you will have a room full of disgusting crud, the origins of which you don't know, and don't want to know!
