Master and the Clones (1987)

This was not the first time in the history of High-Fidelity when a component was rebadged under several other brand names. This pre-amplifier / power amplifier combo from 1989 is perhaps the one that saw the most versions, most notably in Germany. The original was made by LOTTE of Korea and you can see below the "clones". Most of them had the same lettering and some even kept the model number as well. There were two versions made, one was 200 W/ch while the other one was 150 W/ch.

With those meters, I bet they all sold well.
Do we know if they were any good?

Never seen nor heard. Yeah they sure have the look. But when I first saw them, I thought they were some Technics:

You'd have to think those are all from the same manufacturer.
They're almost identical.

Yeah that's what I thought too. Maybe it was Lotte who licensed the design from Technics, who knows?

Maybe Lotto designed & contract mfgr'd this piece for Technics & others.
Technics designs & made/ makes TTs. I'm not sure much else is in house work.
I'm not an expert on Matsushita tho...

Maybe or maybe not. Technics was setup in 1965 as a brand name for audio equipment of Panasonic. They made amplifiers, reel to reel, the whole range of hifi equipment, not just turntables. Some of their gears are held quite highly in the vintage audio circle. They are capable of manufacturing assembly-lines consumer craps, but they also have the ability to make first class products if and when they wanted to.

There is another short post found here about Lotte:

I was not disparaging contract mfgring.
If the customer wants top flight stuff, thats what the supplier w manufacture.

That said, I have no idea if Lotto mfg'd for Technics. Just guessing because the pics are so similar.

I have the PHILIPS PA-1200B and 1000b pre amp any information on them? Year made and where it was built , good quality?

I guess the times have changed.
I was in Korea twice for work back in 2013 or so. I remember seeing Lotte signs. On supermarkets...

But WOW, what a bunch of very cool looking amps!

Technics made a great line of speakers known as the Linear Phase Speakers.
Pictured is an SB-6060.

Yes there is. I am recapping a set, just ordering caps. After several hours of searching the Philips out, going through the Clones page etc, I found on the bottom of the circuit board the LA-1220 number, did some more searching and came up with Neckermann 1200, both pre and amp. its a German company, found a link to Korting, also of Germany.
I have hand checked the cap list for the amp and found it matched. Have not yet checked the Pre.
I found a couple other clones were build different inside.
The SM file is about 5MB, and it won't load up in this thread. there a couple different models in it, will break it up into sections and see if I can upload. Found a couple other products, pictures loaded.

More later.
