I been trying to get this realistic 820, belongs to a friend. Very dead on arrival, one fuse dim bulb glowing. Outputs were bad, a cooked transistor for good measure the filter caps were replaced.
My limited experience, has me going around in circles. If I hook up a speaker to either A Or B, and push the button hum and dim bulb. If I switch then the opposite hums and dim bulb.

The DC voltage is 22v and 33v, which is the same as the rectifier voltage. Going thru the Variac and dim bulb.
Yes it plays if I use the aux.

If it appears O.K. when powered up with no input, but starts to misbehave with increasing volume, it could be that the dim bulb test setup is acting as a power limiter (it's primary test function). If you are happy to power it up properly then do so without the dim bulb or variac in circuit.
