Well I know the translucent yellow Greatest Hits is not as good sounding as my black vinyl copy. Maybe there's a sacrifice... . I'd heard it was the other way around though, that often coloured vinyl is "purer" than black vinyl.

Vinyl is originally clear. Black is actually "colored" vinyl.

I have a few of those in marbled and spatter in kids 45's. The spatter is very nice, it looks like paint has been put on the record at high speed
One of my finds that immediately comes to mind is Deep Purple in Rock-Green Vinyl, mint condition $1:banana
I have quite a few others but would have to trawl the archives to find them.

I have many and they have come to me in collections, I don't seek them out, they find me. It's like everything else with vinyl, some colored vinyl sounds fantastic and some dosen't.
This one sounds amazing! Sorry about the over exposed picture....

I'm in a minority though regarding the sound and toughness of them. I think they sound quite good if not better if they are the translucent kind and are just as "hardy" as black vinyl.
My own preference for the translucent colored vinyl is because you have to use pure virgin vinyl for those. You couldn't use regrind or garbage fillers with them. And they were usually first pressings which meant they were made using stampers that were fresh. So I used to grab as many of those as I could find. They were usually dead silent pressings and let the music really sing.
