Hello all,

system has been down for the past year or so due to a blown amp

Equipment:
Pro-ject debut carbon DC
Schiit Mani phono preamp
Nikko EQ 20 (currently not being used)
Nikko beta 1 preamp
QSC GX5 amp (RIP)
Polk SDA IIB (Studio)

Looking for a replacement amp to get it back up and running. Was going to grab this replacement pro amp off of cragislist and just wanted to ask if anyone had any recommendations other than this for whatever reason.

It's been a while since ive shopped for audio componenets and the few things I do remember is that these speakers like high wattage and need a common ground amplifier. Other than that i'm kind of shooting from the hip.

What else is available to you? It would be silly to recommend an amp that's only available at an exorbitant price on eBay.

FWIW I think that Crown would be fine, although make sure that the seller includes the input jacks so you don't have to go searching for them.

Nice gear! Why not add a Nikko amp to match the other components? Those Crown amps are good though, so I hear. Sonance is another good option - I used a 260 with my SDA-2s.

@swechsler searching craigslist didn't bring up much, but im looking around. for reference i'm in the Chicago area.

@Nightwisher Honestly, I would love to get a nice home amp, specifically a nikko to match my preamp, but to get the same watt/channel I feel like you have to spend 3x as much as a pro amplifier.

Pics as requested......Also looking for some help. As of now, I have had no luck getting the system to work. I have the amp plugged into the nikko pre as shown (I did also have the speakers connected at the time of testing, but removed them afterwards). I had my schiit mani connected to the phono 1 and phono 2 inputs on the nikko preamp (tested both, just in case). I was unable to get any music out of the speakers. I go some feedback/noise but that's all. The noise I was getting was independent of the turntable/preamp being on. If the amplifier was powered on, and the speakers were connected then I would hear feedback.

Couple of things: The guy I purchased the amp from did have it setup and tested it for me when I picked it up so I know it works. My speaker wires are too large to fit in the amp terminals, i have ordered some banana plugs to help this issue.

I don't know what's wrong with your hookup, but you don't need the phono preamp, as the Nikko has one built in. Connect your turntable directly to the phono inputs.
