Comparing an MCS 3275 to other brands

I have an MCS 3275 and love the sound but want something with more power. What other brands would have a similar sound? My Marantz 2250B is definitely warmer or smoother and I feel like the sound from the MCS just “pops” more, or is more energetic. Hard to describe, but they are clearly different and I find myself preferring the sound of the MCS. A 3125 would seem to be the obvious choice but those are rare as hens teeth. Would a Pioneer SX-1050 or 1250 sound similar but with more power?

Thanks for any recommendations.

Hard to say. I don't have any pioneers to compare to, but out of the receivers that I have, the Sanyo JCX 2900K is very close to sounding like an MCS 3275. But they are not much easier to find either.

I know what you mean about the sound of the 3275. Its my favorite for the same reasons. The dynamics and punch is way better than the 3125. Sounds like is has more for 75 watts

Keep an eye out for a Realistic STA-2100D. Just got mine up and running and it really shakes the house. They were built by Foster for Radio Shack back in the late 70s and they are very solid and well put together. The non-D 2100 is also quite desirable and has a toroidal transformer like the Pioneer heavy hitters of that era. The best part is that you can often find them for far less than most other "monsters" because of the Realistic name. Hope they continue to fly under the radar.

I've got a live Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight CD by Styx.
Opening song The Grand Illusion, when Todd plays that descending tom roll into the double kick drums IT JUST PLAIN THUNDERS when played through my 3125.
Have not heard that OOOOMPH/GRUNT/POWER with any of my other receivers or amps.
