After using a tube amp again for the first time in over 30 years I started considering Klipsch Heritage speakers. I listened at the nearest dealer 2 hours away in the worst display conditions. My budget allowed for Heresy IV but after hearing Cornwalls I knew I couldn't settle for less. Well no way could I justify the expense at the time and began researching this DIY "Cornscala" option. I ended up building a pair with Crites supplied kit components. CT120 tweeter, M2380 mid horn with Selenium D405 driver and Crites (Eminence) 1526C woofer. Built cabinets with premium 3/4" Baltic Birch and braced them well.
I'd like to know if anyone has compared the real deal to some form of Cornwall clones and particularly Crites offering. I'm assuming the drivers might be close in spec and performance? If what I'm listening to now is even close, I must say I'm pleased. I have no way of knowing since my listening to the original was time limited and the room was cramped and acoustically far less than ideal. I know the IV is a different animal but my cabinets are modeled after the earlier versions. Any experience with both types is appreciated. Thanks
