A while back I looked at the service manuals to determine which boards were used in multiple units in Sansui's Definition series and Professional series: AU-9900, AU-11000, AU-20000, BA-3000, CA-3000 (did not look at the BA-5000). Also included the next generation of these units: AU-9900A, AU-11000A, BA-2000, CA-2000. I made the following comparison chart, with highlights for boards used in more than one unit. (I have posted this chart in a couple of other threads where the topic came up, but it's been suggested this information may be of interest in its own thread.)
Some observations
If we assume Sansui numbered boards chronologically (for the most part) then the progression of development can be seen in the table from the board numbers. The BA/CA-3000 were designed first, then the AU-20000, followed by the AU-9900/11000.
For the most part the AU-20000 is a BA/CA-3000 in one box, though there are some differences in the pre-amp.
Many boards were continued from the AU-9900/11000 to the AU-9900A/11000A.
The BA/CA-2000 combination is an AU-11000A in separate boxes with power meters for the amp.
