Complete Album Sets

thisOne

Listen...
So I've been looking through my record collections (cataloguing it actually) and I realized that I have few sets of albums that are almost the complete discography for a given group (like I have all of Led Zeppelin albums - not difficult, but as an example)

I also have most of the Rolling Stones albums (excluding such albums as compilations, live, singles, etc - they issued A LOT of stuff)

Anyone else have a whole set of records??? (I'm focusing on Vinyl 'cause it's harder, but I guess CDs would count, too :D)

I have the vast majority of Stereolab's discography, including remixes and compilations, but I don't think I'll ever be able to get everything...

Jefferson Airplane
Jethro Tull
The Doors
Led Zep
XTC
Roxy Music
Pink Floyd
The Ventures
The Velvet Underground

I am sure others I just need to go and dig in my collection.

All the Grateful Dead vinyl released through Terrapin Station, after which I lost interest. This includes the pseudo officially released Vintage Dead and Historic Dead which preceded the first Warner Bros. issue.
I don't think I have any complete sets, though I do have five or six consecutive of a few artists usually starting with their first. Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, New Riders of the Purple Sage.

I have a complete set of Frankie Goes to Hollywood 12" singles and LPs.

I was young at the time, is my best excuse.

Oh yes......LPs are the things to go after....big beautiful artwork plus limited supply and growing demand.

Double threat......music and art.

I have both of Bernadette Peters albums with Vargas covers....and spares.

Also some of Cher's more revealing poses.....and Carly Simon and even Judy Collins.....(Judy's Nudie).

I'm buying all that I can find in excellent condition at reasonable prices.

I'm working on getting all the Traveling Wilburys albums.

No nudes there.

:D

My Battlefield Band collection is close to complete on vinyl. Of course, there are quite a few albums that never came out on vinyl, but of what there is, I have nearly everything.

Interesting!!!, the different bands that you each have a whole set of. Makes me want to know what music I'm missing.

I also noticed (looking at the discographies of some of the most well known bands) that I have managed (purely accidentally and most likely due to the popularity of the releases) to collect a run of records in the middle of each band's list (so I'm missing some of the earliest and some of the latest releases to complete the set).

Makes me also wonder if (other than completing the set) some of these LPs are worth the bother (although I am intent on actively completing the sets where I'm just a couple of albums short).

But it seem like a fun way to search out some music in an orderly way to supplement not only a collection but also a listening experience, and it keeps me away from looking at gear I might covet but don't really need :D (so this is good, I can get quite a number of LPs for the price of another TT that would just sit on top of the stack of TTs I already don't use):thmbsp:

Wow!, that is one set I'm going to work hard to complete, and the man has got A LOT of records to his name (see here)

80 some records, hard to get 'em all.
This one sounds interesting

# Lemme Take You To The Beach: Surf Instrumental Bands playing the music of Zappa (Cordelia Records) (2005)

Most of my complete sets are from bands that only put out a few records.
