Complete Beginner Assembles Setup (With Your Help!)

I read the owners manual of the A-25s and it recommended 18-gauge, but said that 16 or even 14 gauge would work (dependent on distance, I think?). Should I get the thinner one?

If you have to buy new wire, thicker is better. I'd recommend the 16 or 14 gauge (smaller number is thicker). The main thing is to get all-copper wire, not copper-coated aluminum, or the clear-insulation kind with one conductor copper-colored and the other silver-colored. That's if you have to buy new wire. If you already have some 18 ga., there is nothing wrong with using it.

Be careful, there is a disease that gets passed around these parts. You might catch it. It's called upgraditis. Of course that's just in jest, but it does happen. You will never know what it means to "up your system" if you never have a base point to start. You are off with minimal cost and that's certainly a fine place to start.

Hello again, thanks to your help and advice, I've got the beginner's setup all ready. Check out the imgur album I've linked for the modest pictures.
Turns out the cassette deck needs a new belt, but I'm not sure if its worth the trouble to replace that.
I may get some stands for the speakers at a later date, but for now, everything is sound and looking pretty nice.
