Computer-related problem....help needed

Situation:
OS: Windows 10. Been having several problems since the last recent MS updates, namely, there is no longer a mouse icon on my screen, so I have no use of that computer.
I did a manual forced shutdown, then tried to reboot. No dice. Tried again, used the ESC key to access the diagnostic program. It passed all stages, but still no icon.

Tried one more time, got a "please wait" notice....then, "Repairing Disc C, 5% complete....then 10%, then 30%, etc.until finished. Bootup completed, but still no icon. The mouse and keyboard are both communicating with the computer, both will wake the computer up from sleep mode.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

probably a command line fix .or start in safe mode to fix . or just revert to earlier time and turn off updates for now .

The problem seems to be a corruption of the mouse driver. There are step-by-step instructions in the article I sent the link to. The trick is to use the keyboard instead of the mouse to navigate around the windows. I do not use Windoze 10 (it sucks), but the navigation keys do not appear to have changed for the past 20 years.
There are also other possible solutions online, just search for "mouse cursor disappears in windows 10".
Besides, even in Safe Mode a missing mouse cursor won't come back usually.
There is no need to use the command line in this case.
