This receiver was having troubles when I got it originally from my father. Sometimes the buttons had to be pushed just right to enable the speaker channel, but it mostly worked. Some years later, no sound is to be heard through the normal signal path.
If I connect an input into the "Main" input, then the sound comes out from the speakers just fine. No controls (volume, bass, trebel, balance, etc) have any effect on the output.
But any other audio source (tape, AM, FM, phono) will not produce any sound whatsoever.
I opened it up and did my best to dust it, clean the pots with alcohol and then Dexoit 100, twisted them a bunch and put it all back together. I wanted to clean the buttons but wasn't sure exactly how to clean their insides. Nothing visually looked obviously wrong. But I still have the same issues.
What would you advise doing next? Would be nice to be able to use the radio and line inputs. Also I have no clue how to fix the tangle of thread that is connected to the tuner... seems impossible to put it back on straight and taught.
