Conncting The Power Amp Back Into The Preamp

Would you recommend using the Heathkit AP1800 pre to like the Pioneer Spec does? This would be where you loop the AA 1800 power amp outputs, back into the preamp for A/B switching versatility and possibly more ? I would guess there probably would be no audible difference? Is there an advantage?
Thanks for your advice

If you refer to speaker switching, I would not recommend it because there will likely be audible differences.

Which is why next to zero manufacturers take that approach today.

Old technology taking amp power back to the preamp for speaker switching and headphone power. Adds a bunch of connections and some really skinny wire along with switches and extra cable. Use it only if you have to and if you must, maybe for the headphone power. Common back in the day when amps were not something see (or at least it allowed hiding them) and still have speaker switching.

.......hmm the old heard but not seen trick! Do the amp get warm or benefit from a fan? I understand the thinking back then better, looping the amp back would allow one to tuck it away, short of rack mounting it! Having the extra switching and all probably was a minor consideration. I always ran my AA straight off its own postings, but if I had a second set of speakers, aside from my 4 ohm set, I would consider looping back perhaps. I understand the logic better now- such as it was anyway.
Thanks guys.
