Hi folks

I think I am loosing my mind..I have a Sansui Qrx6500 reciever and I am trying to connect it to Bose 901 EQ to create the tape loop that it needs to work. I have followed the steps in the BOSE manual with no luck. Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Decide first if you are going to use the receiver in 2-Channel or 4-Channel mode?

If 2-Channel, connect the Active Equalizer to the receivers rear 2-Channel connectors Tape-2 (follow instructions in the Bose manual). Connect the pair of Bose speakers to the receivers Front Speakers System-A connections. If using a total of 4 901's or some other brand of speakers then connect the second pair to the receivers System-A Rear Speaker connections.

Once everything is connected follow the Bose manual for setup of the Active Equalizer and also use the receivers manual to setup the receiver if necessary.

If using 4-Channel mode then connect the Active Equalizer to the receivers 4-Channel Tape Front & Rear connections using a splitter for each connection on the rear of the Active Equalizer (again using the Bose manual as a guide) and connect the speakers (using the receivers manual as a guide) to the receivers System-A & System-B Front & Rear speaker connections.

Give it a try? Hope this helps.

Not sure about 4 channel but for 2 channel, I always hooked the EQ between the amp and pre amp. Been doin it this way since 1979.

Yes you are correct about that type of connection, which can be done, but the fact is not every receiver is built with "Amp" and "Pre-Amp" connections. Some have, some don't. This applies to the Sansui QRX-6500 which is a "QUAD" receiver by the way. That is why I was asking if he was going to use it in 2 or 4 channel mode but surprisingly the Sansui QRX-6500 does not have 'amp' and 'pre amp' connections.

Knowing this Bose clearly instructs, depending on exactly what rear connections a receiver has, on how to connect the Active Equalizer. Read the Bose manual its in there.

Originally, I used to have it setup that way on my audio system (back in the 80's) but since I totally re-did my audio system setup, with mixer, equalizer and other components the connection of my Bose Active Equalizer is a bit more complex.

you have 2 inputs on the eq, one is for tape the other is for between the pre amp and the amp so;

pre amp out into bose in, bose out to power amp

if your doing the tape monitor

rec out from rec to bose in and bose out to rec in

I'm not familiar with what your ampo has for tape in/out some have playback some say record
