Connect EQ Expander Reverb to Preamp

you show a amp and preamp being used in your diagram. I have all componets but using a pioneer sa 7500 amp how would you hook that up,been a long time I bought all this new back in 79-81,dt 540 timer, sa 7500 amp,tx 608 tuner, ctf 1250 cassette, dv 250 dvd, sg 9800 eq,sr 303 reverb,rg2 processor, rt 701 reel to reel.also 4 cs-603 speakers..teac- 500 turntable.

Greetings and welcome to the forum.

With regard to your question: just pretend your SA-7500 is the preamp shown in my diagram in the first post.
You do have some extra stuff not shown in the picture. Turntable connects to Phono In, DVD connects to Aux In, Tuner connects to Tuner In, speakers connect to amp output, one tape unit will be connected per the diagram and one will be connected to the other tape connectors or in the chain connected to the first tape deck in the same manner as the rest of the devices in the tape chain.

hifiengine.com also has the owner's manual and shows how to connect many devices.

Have fun.

ok thanks yea I did not put the other componets because I knew where they go thanks I will try this set up this weekend. again thanks.

I know this is an older thread, but I am still confused by this, (sorry, newbie here).
I saw a post where someone wanted all the meters to move, regardless of what source was playing. I'd like to do this too, but I can't seem to get my cassette meters going.
For clarification, I have the following:
SA-710
PL-260
TX-610
SR-303
SG-300
CF-F616
Random sony CD player.

I've got it currently hooked up in "option 2," but still nothing with the tape deck.

I've tried both methods described above, but I guess I'm missing something... Also, I have the option of using "Tape 1" and "Tape 2" on the amp, but the diagram doesn't really clarify which to use. I would imagine it's something simple, but I can't seem to figure it out.

So could someone dumb this down for me? I'd like to have all the meters move during playback, (even if Im listening to a record, the meters on the cassette deck also move).

Thanks!

If your Tape deck has a SOURCE / TAPE button, switch it to SOURCE and turn up the input pots. That should allow the meters to run all the time

Time to shoot trouble. Did your tape deck meters move before you tried to add the equalizer and reverb unit to the chain? In other words, did you have the deck hooked up to the amp tape loop with out any processors and it worked then but did not work after you added them? Does your tape deck play back without problems? Since you have the option of using Tape 1 and Tape 2, did you try? Or put your processors in one loop and the deck in the other and see what happens.

I've been a member of Audiokarma for a few years now and a topic that I see come up fairly often is "How do I connect my EQ, expander, reverb unit and tape machine to my preamp?".

As with all things there are different ways to accomplish this. I've created this post in the hopes of trying to provide some guidance and to generate some discussion with regard to the pros and cons to different methods. Since I spend most of my time in the Pioneer forum, I've chosen to post this here.

I have attached a connection diagram for your consideration.

An example of the pros/cons issue would be:
- In Option 1, your source signal is always routed through your tape device but operating your tape device is simpler.
- In option 2, tape device operation is more complicated but your source signal is traveling through fewer devices.

I've used Option 2 top connect up my A9/RG-9/SR-9/SG-9 and what a revelation!! I've given up so many times whenever I connect these up using the manuals setup diagrams, that they just sit there doing nothing. Finally I have it all working!
Thank you so much for making it seem easy.

In option 2 how would you wire in another deck like a real to reel. Thanks

Just keep following the same pattern. Pretend the reverb unit in the diagram is actually a cassette deck.

[QUOTE = "xlbee, publicación: 14603251, miembro: 23859"] Sigue el mismo patrón. Imagina que la unidad de reverberación del diagrama es en realidad una platina de casete. [/ QUOTE]

After reading through this thread it looks like a good place for me to start.

I need someone much smarter than me to either confirm that this is the best way to set up my system or to tell me that I need some changes. By way of starting I should say that I am pretty happy with the sound from the current set up. To my ear in my room the treble is crisp and not shrill and the bass is not booming but I would say "very present"

Is there something I should do differently with the setup.

Here is the equipment.

Pioneer SA-7500
Bose 901 Series VI equalizer
Bowers & Wilkens DM23 (bought new in 1980 or 81)
Allison CD-7 (replacement tweeters - unfortunate but necessary)
Klipsch R-12SW sub

Speakers are all placed about 6" (16cm) from the room walls.

See pics (I pulled the speakers grills just to show them better).

SETUP

The Pioneer Pre Out goes to the Bose Amplifier Connections via medium high end RCA cables
The Bose Amplifier Connection OUT comes out with a medium high end splitter from each of the L&R jacks. One side of the splitter goes (L&R) to the Pioneer Pre Amp Power via medium high end RCA cable and the other side of the splitters goes L&R to the Klipsch subwoofer again via medium high end RCA cable.

My thought process was this. The only way to go from the Pioneer to the sub is with RCA cables (L&R) from the Pioneer preamp (obviously no coax Sub connection) and the only way to use the Bose equalizer is in & out of the preamp. Obviously cannot do both unless I used the splitter.

I should also add that the Marantz unit you see under the Pioneer is my home theatre amp. It has a Sub out connection and I run a coax cable from it to the sub for TV and DVD audio. I am lucky since the Klipsch has both RCA L&R in and Coax in and I use both depending on what source (Pioneer music or Marantz TV) I am listening to at the time. Not relevant to this discussion really.

The bass turnover on the Pioneer is set to 200Hz and the treble turnover is set to 2.5mHz and I give the bass 2 pot clicks to the right and the treble pot one click to the right
Everything else on the Pioneer is "off" or "flat". No Loudness, no High Filter, no Low Filter.
The mid-treble and mid-bass sliders on the Bose are both set up almost (just a hair short) of all the way
Sub phase is about 70 (its not marked but its at about 10 o'clock on the dial where noon is Phase 90.

I should also note that all music is played via bluetooth receiver connected to the Pioneer AUX input. The music streams from my iMac that is now retired and is really only my 2TB iTunes library. The iTune equalizer is set to flat. Nearly all -- lets say 80% of the music files are Apple Lossless (ALAC) files.

I mostly run both sets of speakers and when I do run just one set its usually the B&W.

Thanks for reading this far.
Feel free to tell me I'm an idiot and there is a much better way to do all of this.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any help
Doug

P.S. Mostly meaningless but the rock you see in the picture I picked up on Omaha Beach when we visited there about 10 years ago.
