Connect EQ to receiver with tape output, but no input

As title says, I want to connect a equalizer with spectrum analyzer to my casseiver. It does not have tape inputs, only aux and phono and tape out. Can I connect tape out to EQ in and EQ out to AUX in? Would input selection work then? would it work with radio or internal cassette deck?

Not without re-wiring the unit. An eq needs a complete continuous loop to process the signal, and there's little or no chance your machine is capable of having both the tape and aux connections active at the same time.

While you do have a tape out and an open input, they are not configured to do you any good here.

An eq requires an output and a return to the exact same place in the circuit where it left, preferably before the volume control. The switch to divert the signal from a direct internal path to that external "detour" is called a "tape monitor switch. Without that ability you're limited to either inserting it between the preamp and the main amp, which I doubt is an option for you, or using it with only one line lwvel source.

This is what I suspected. I guess I'll get a multi-input switcher and the EQ so I can add most inputs behind it. Only the radio, tape deck and phono will not be EQed
