connecting Mirage MBS-2 bipolar speakers

I picked these up today and am trying to figure out how they are wired. According to the manual, there is one way to connect them if placed against a wall and another if they are on stands.

Looks like standard bi-wire connections but apparently not.

The pic shown is how to connect them if on stands. With only one jumper between the red terminal and the wires on the lower set of terminals. if used against a wall, then the jumper should be on the black terminals and the wires connected to the upper set of terminals

What's going on here?

pic is of the front, back has same driver compliment but with the tweeter below the mid.

Being a DiPole speaker I would imagine that there would be no need to send signal to the rear drivers if the speakers are wall mounted thus the different wiring scheme.

I thought that too at first. but..if that is the case why not just mark one set of terminals as front, one as rear, use jumpers on both +/- for both?
manual says it is to adjust the voicing of the speaker but goes no further than that.
