Control MX132 from C52

Hey guys -

Another integration question. I have an MX132 with the tuner module installed. It actually sounds very, very nice to me. I'd like to know if there's a way that I can control the MX132 using the C52 remote.

I've tried connecting a stereo cable from a data out port on the C52 to the zone A IR input on the MX132 hoping this might work, but sadly it does not. So those IR ports must be using a different format or protocol than the regular data in/out ports.

I could switch the C52 to the alt remote codes and use my Harmony I suppose, but ideally I'd be able to do everything with the McIntosh remote.

Circling back to let everyone know that I found a solution. I purchased a McIntosh RCT-4 and just set it up in my system. It is not fully programmed yet, but it looks like it is going to work exactly the way that I want.

I have a data out port on the C52 going into channel 1 on the RCT-4. The RCT-4 channel 1 IR out is wired directly into the MX132's Zone A IR input. The front panel IR input on the MX132 has been disabled using the small switch on the bottom of the unit. Now I can control the MX132 tuner functions using the C52 remote. Cool! Because the RCT-4 acts like a repeater (no way to disable this), I didn't have to program any new commands on the RCT-4 except for the MX132 power toggle.

The RCT-4 is a slick little device. I'm going to use to solve the MCD205 disc select issue I mentioned in another thread too. One thing I've noticed is that because it acts like a repeater, the MX132 will respond to commands that were intended for the C52 (like volume up/down). I may end up switching the C52 to the alternate codes so that this doesn't happen. I'll then have to manually program all of the tuner and MCD205 commands. Fortunately the learning process is very easy and fast!
