Converting Iphone to Android problems need help.

One of my sons just upgraded to a Android based phone, a Samsung infuse from a iPhone 1st or 2nd generation.

When he is trying to convert iTunes music over to the new phone our computer won't recognize the phone. Does he need to go through Itunes?

I think it is double twist he has down loaded to use to convert the music. He is at work and I'm lost and thought post it on here. My phone does not even have a camera let along music.

iTunes on iPhone is the only option. No iPhone to Android. iTunes files would likely need conversion to play on Android machines. And iTunes DRM files would have to be burned to CD before you can convert them to your Android. And iTunes only syncs with iPod or iPhones. Burning Compact Discs is likely what you'll need to do here.
 
i would think that more as a downgrade but i know nothing .. yes you will need a program to convert the files to one recognised to the android .. i have never done this but i would try a few files first to check the final quality before waiting hours to find the quality is no good ..

It really boils down to personal preference, I would say it's an upgrade. Back to the Op's question. He need to convert them (apple loves to use proprietary codecs) but luckily their are quite a few free converter programs out there. The one I use to use (before getting the pay version) is DB power amp. though I think you couldjust hope on cnet's downloads.com and find a free AAC to MP3 converter. Also since he's on Android now he should download google music, he can upload all his songs to a google server (up to 20,000) and stream them any where he has wifi or 3G. it's quite the feature.

Talked to my other son after posting the question, he thinks it is because the computer is not the same one used when the old phone was first connected to iTunes.

Will have to wait until my youngest gets home from work to ask him. We still have the hard drive from the computer I hope.

Double Twist is the software I was told he downloaded to make the switch over.

When ever something like this happens will remind them that my first album from 1969 is still in the house.
