I remember when I was a kid in the '90s too. Nobody but me bought records, but as a consequence of long vinyl listening sessions, my friends began to appropriate their dads old TTs and records. Moral of story - everybody loves vinyl, they just don't know it.

P.S. Memo to record labels and shops: if you don't want to be driven out of business by internet piracy and falling CD sales, sell more vinyl. Look at the facts - cassette couldn't kill it, CD couldn't kill it, DAT, MiniDisc, DCC and mp3 couldn't kill it. Like the man said, vinyl will NEVER die.:yippy:

I have to disagree with you here....

New turntables, at least the ones that I have heard, whip the 1219 that I heard last year.....

Also, they're simple, easy to aintain, and will last forever if treated nicely, with no auto mechanisms to fail.

And why do you think that today's TT's are bad? They're not heavy by any means, but they sound great.
