Cooling 1000A

Honey Boo Boob
Just made the plunge to tube madness.I'm really liking this Sansui 1000A but those power tubes run HOT! Looking for a simple way to better ventilate things,I run it without the metal case but want some more air movin through.Your suggestions.................Thanks!

patience is a virtue; don't pre-judge the rate of responses.

The receiver was designed for adequate passive (convective) cooling if there's enough space around it and it is operating properly*. That said, a "muffin" fan will work well - either draw warm air away from above, or force cool air from below. A 220 V fan run at 120 V will be whisper quiet and still move plenty of air.

* Have all coupling capacitors been changed? They are all bad if they are original.

I have 1 fan on my 1000a It is mounted between the power transformer and OPT right behind the tubes. The 1000a get hot there because of those power resistors along with the tubes. Run it at a slow speed pulling air to the back. I also have a couple pieces of 4" X 4" .025 aluminum sheet that I stand between the 7591 tubes and the OPTs. That alone really sucks up the heat that would otherwise go into the OPTs. I also biased my tubes to the cool side.
