Cornell Dubilier/Illinois Capacitor Question

Hey Everyone,

I'm re-capping my NuTone 2071 Stereo Intercom and I'm using a 2.2 mfd. capacitor to replace the four 2 mfd. capacitors in the set. Specifically, the Cornell Dubilier/Illinois Capacitor 225TTA100M (Mouser link, DigiKey link). I've heard that the TTA series from Cornell Dubilier/Illinois Capacitor can be trouble, but that was only from one source. What do you guys think of the TTA line of capacitors?

I use them all of the time, hifi and quitar amps, no problems so far. I used to use Nichicon axials but they're not made any more. If you need old school values TVAs are still around.

When I'm doing the re-cap, I will use some Sprague TVA-ATOM capacitors (which are very good), however most of my parts will be Vishay/BC Components axial-lead capacitors.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with Sprague, Cornell-Dubilier, Illinois Capacitor, Mallory, or Vishay capacitors. They are original American makers or results of mergers and have been making capacitors for eons.

I agree that you can't go wrong with reliable American brands, however Japanese brands such as Nippon Chemi-Con/United Chemi Con, Rubycon, and Nichicon are good too.
