Cornwall II's

I am running out of fingernails to chew! I found a pair of black Cornwall II's under the heading of "Big Klipsch Speakers - $50"! I emailed within 8 minutes of the listing hitting the airwaves, but no reply yet! This has been the longest 3 1/2 hours of my life! Here is all the ad said: "Pair of Klipsch Cornwall II speakers - Big and in great shape! 36"H x 26"W x 16" D. Black." Pray for me!

Ethier they'll be gone, ot the offers are rolling in.

Sorry, I'm a realist. I had a shot at some JBL's for $275, first in the door - all of a sudden they come back saying there are now offers on the table, blah blah.

I hope you get them. If someone offeres item X for $5, $5 should take it, first come. I hate these schlock artist bait-and-switch yahoos.

I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope its just an honest joe who doesnt know what he's got there, and sells 'em to whomever replied first (Hopefully ME!) Don't know if i will break down with guilt while handing over $50.00 bucks for those gems... It aint gonna be easy!

I suffered the same fate when I went after my Altec 19s last week...but the guy was straight up and said I was first to answer and he sold them to me. Hang in there and good luck. Wish it was me!! Keep us informed.

Saw those also - the cynic in me said too good to be true...

if it is, wanna bet 'capeannaudio' emailed back seconds after it was posted?

I saw those too Birddog. On Boston CL right?
Thought about replying but figured TOO LATE at that price!

A similar story happened to me on Monday. Saw a pair of Pioneer HPM 1500 for $50 on CL and sent an email saying I was interested. Later on in the day I got an email from the seller saying that they were pulling the sale because they had received over a 100 replys and had since found out the value of what they had. I spoke to the women by phone because I was also going to buy a turntable she had for sale. She said she and her husband decided not to sell the HPM's but to keep them.
I'm willing to bet they will be back in CL or Ebay at a more realistic price... and I can't blame them.

Good luck getting the Cornwalls.

Keeping the faith...

I'm afraid to get up and let the dog out, thinking THATS WHEN THEY WILL CALL! I put my Cardiologist on speed dial, just in case...My wife thinks I'm losing my mind, all worked up over an old pair of speakers that she doesn't want in the house! Wait till she get a load of the size of them, if I get lucky enough to buy them! Gonna have to get rid of some furniture to make room!

Ya Acronym, I agree. Where do you suppose CapeAnnAudio gets all there vintage stuff? They seem to have an endless supply.

Ah birddog! We (I) share your pain! What the hell good is this hobby/obsession if you can't have your Cardiologist on speed dial every once in a while?

I hope you get them so you can then supply us all with the magical line of BS that it will take (took?) to get them past your wife!

Good luck!

yep, boston CL..

joZmo, I talked to the lady with the hpm's, she also had a Sansui g-9000 for $40 bucks. Somehow she found out what they were worth, and pulled 'em, I told her to do some research on the speakers, and get back to me with a price, and told her to join up here and sell the Sansui to someone who would give it a good home. Again, i was right on top of the initial posting, was very bummed when she pulled the stuff.

Ya can't BS a pair of Cornwalls...

No way to sneak these monsters in! It's gonna take a bit of very undignified begging and tears, and promises of "I'll never bring another piece of stereo stuff home again, Honey!" to get these into the main room! It would be so much easier if I had married a music lover! Still no word, I'll update when or if something happens

Had this happen to me last week on a set of Klipsch Forte II's for $200.00 OBO. I offered the 200 and then was hit with "the bidding is up to 575". I responded with "Isn't this CL not Ebay" Good luck.

It's not unusual for someone to see an item underpriced and email the seller advising them as to its value - at least on the Boston CL.

Oh well...

After several emails and no reply, I have given up. The listing has been pulled, I'm sure that they must have gotten a ****load of responses to the ad, even from people who didn't know what they were. My cosolation prize is a pair of AR4X's that I'm picking up at noon for $40.00. Not exactly a pair of Cornwall II's for $50.00, but still not a bad score.

dang... I was pulling for ya too birddog... :(

Maybe next time amigo... congrat's on the AR4X's

Well, at least the AR4Xs won't use up all your on-your-knees-begging collateral with your wife. Now, this would be a fine twist -- the Cornys become available and you get them! What a tough problem to have, but I'm sure you'd come up with something.

Remember, there is always another deal out there with your name on it.

You know what they say, if it sounds to good to be true.... Just gotta get up and brush the dirt off the knees, and believe that one day it will be my turn to score. By the way, the AR-4x's sound pretty good, just hooked em up real quick to check them out. Grabbed a KLH model 52 receiver while I was there, its in excellent cosmetic shape, just missing one of the fuse holder caps for the left side output. Don't know a thing about it, gonna see what I can find out about it.
