Cornwall tweeter problem

Hello all,

I’ve got a vertical Cornwall with no tweeter output. I’ve removed it and the tweeter itself is working. What’s the next step? Crossover terminals were tight, no corrosion.

Could it be a bad crossover? Labeling says Type B. Thanks

If you have a volt meter, check continuity across the caps and see if they do connect. If not, I'd personally recommend replacing the capacitors with either Solen, Sonicap or Dayton 5% or 1% poly caps. Not a major expense and it will really bring them back to life. Those older PIO caps eventually just go bad and don't sound like they once did. You have a 2uf and 4uf per crossover board so that's an easy peasy one to swap them out with new ones. The new caps, like mentioned above, are non polarized so it won't matter what direction you put them in. Do you have a soldering iron or a friend with one? It's a quick process.

Yes, could definitely be bad capacitors. Also, make sure the terminals clean as well as snug. Again, check continuity with a meter if you can. Could also be a poor connection at the tweeter terminals, too. Maybe unplug and clean with something.

First thing is to make sure all contacts are clean and that all screws on the crossover are tight. If it still doesn't work, then start checking for continuity using the provided schematic. Since the mid range is working the only items to look at is the 2uf capacitor or the attenuator.
 
Is the one working in the other speaker? Maybe flip them (if it's working) to see if this one will work in a known good unit...
 
Take small cone speaker and attach one lead to the negative input of the crossover and then using the positive wire follow the sound signal thru the crossover to the last place you hear sound. The next component or connection is where the problem starts.
