While toothbrush and soap will work for most Pioneer gear, there is no real way to know if the lettering is ready to let go or not. I truly suggest that you keep your faceplates out of the sink and take the longer road to getting clean, stay off the lettering as much as possible, and use q-tips near the lettering. I have trashed several otherwise fine pieces by having the lettering let go on me. I now use a "moist" rag and Meguiar's Cleaner Wax or Eagle One, NanoWax. The trick appears to be minimum time wet.
For the RCA connectors, use cotton pipe-cleaners, soaked in DeOxit. Run the DeOxit in and out of the center connector, and follow up by running a good RCA plug in and out, rotating as you go in and come out, while the DeOxit is still wet. Then, for the outer, ground ring, I use a good polishing with some "Classic Cloth", available from your local motorcycle dealer.
