Cosmos

[Eric H]

I've started watching this series on DVD, I remember watching it when it was on PBS and what a strong impact it had on me then, it's still just as mesmerizing now.

I really miss Carl Sagan, brilliant and able to communicate Scientific ideas to the Layman and be entertaining as hell doing it.

The Discs include Updates recorded ten years after the show aired, mostly to supply updated information and discoveries about whatever the episode was about.

You do know that Cosmos is being rebooted by Seth MacFarlane (of The Family Guy fame), right?

And featuring the coolest scientist around today, Neil deGrasse Tyson.

I loved that show since I saw it when I was about 10.
The style of its presentation is so appealing to me, and I just don't 'get' modern tv documentary styles. Having Dr Sagan just stand and talk to the camera, with no flash, is where the magic happens. I hate the corny animations they now feel compelled to add anytime there might be 10 seconds of stillness on the screen.

The music of the original was also part of the magic. I wonder if they could ever match that soundtrack.
