This could well be a dream come true for fans of real scifi. On the Wired Podcast Geek's Guide to The Galaxy #181 they interview Bill Goldbrick, Executive Vice President, Original Content at SyFy. In this interview he discusses the then upcoming mini series Childhoods End. He goes on from there to discuss that the SyFy Channel is going to do more such mini-series adaptation of such books. He states the SySy is going to go after the true Science Fiction fan. They are airing in 2015 Arthur C. Clark's 3001 A Space Odyssey, The executive producers of "The Final Odyssey" Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker and Stuart Beattie does it get any better....

The first thing they should do is change their name back to Sci-Fi.

“If you ask people their default perceptions of Sci Fi, they list space, aliens and the future,” he added.

“That didn’t capture the full landscape of fantasy entertainment: the paranormal, the supernatural, action and adventure, superheroes.”

That became more important as Sci Fi expanded its program offerings into those realms, Mr. Howe said, with series like “Destination Truth” and “Ghost Hunters.”

Until Dave Howe is gone, I remain skeptical. The above is right after the name change in 2009.

But, actually having sci-fi as the mission again is a good step.
