hello
Im new here but I have been coming here for years learning about vintage hifi but I can seem to find what I'm looking for now so I figure I try asking this time lol.
Anyway I have a Sony str 6045 receiver and currently I'm using a set of sansui SU9000 that came with a sansui rack stereo that looks really cheap, I picked them up year ago at a goodwill because there look. The strange thing is these speakers sound great to me, so great I can't seem to find speakers to replace them. I want speakers with brown wood cabinets to match my setup. So far I have bought sansui SPX6900, audiosphere 3way speakers, technics SBL51, some 2 way vivid speakers, some large technics 3 way speaker from the 90s. So far I keep coming back to the little sansui su9000. I'm currently thinking of buy a set of sansui SP-L100, the problem is I can't find anything really online about them and what people think of them. Does anyone know if these sansui speakers are anygood? Also does anyone know about these sansui su9000 speakers and why they sound so good?(well to me anyway)
Thanks for any help you can give me and sorry for the long post.
Take care

My thoughts are that the reason the Sansui speakers sound good to you is that you have a rather limited frame of reference in the matter.

My theory is, you are used to the sound of the SU9000.
Other speakers most likely sound different compared to them.
Different may be worse, different may be better.
Have you given you ears enough time to get used to the other speakers you've tried?

I'm thinking you guys are right, I just don't know what better sounds like so I went ahead and bought the sansui sp-l100 and omg what a difference, they sound way better. These new speaker have a real sound, like its thicker or deeper if that makes sense. I couldn't find to much info on them online but I decided to go for it anyway and so far I am really happy I did. the owner redid the foam so I'm hoping they last me a long time. Has anyone else heard these speakers? Are they any good or am I still thinking **** speakers sound good? Lol
Thanks for the help and any help you can give me.

Inmate,
Welcome to AK. I have not heard any of your gear. Enjoy the music. If you sample some of the threads here asking what gear are favorites. You may get ideas on what to look for to upgrade what you have. Everyone's ears hear differently though. The more audio gear you hear, you will get idea what you like and don't.
Many ways to get exposed to nice audio gear. AK member gettogethers do happen in many areas. Check events section. Maybe a member close to you would demo thier system for you.

I picked up a pair of Sansui SP-l100 today and this is one of the few threads I can find on this model. thought I would post a few pics. The tweeter looks a "bit" like the jbl tweeter from the L series. The Sp-l100 uses an 8 inch woofer. The larger L250 uses a 10" woofer. I will add these to the winter project pile as they need surrounds.
