Counterfeit 2SC2240

Just a side note about my six little bastards. They are badged:

C2240
Y 4F

For those interested to know what was wrong with them, besides being of the wrong sex, they have high leakage current and low breakdown voltage (25~55V). They will prove useful to illustrate some transistor's defaults, if I can find the time to complete my curve tracer project...

As an example on the same topic, I keep Toshiba 2SC2383 on hand for a good all around replacement NPN. I've also bought Fairchild KSC2383, and you know what? Their spec sheet is practically identical to Toshiba's. Pinout, current, voltage, everything. In this case, these are basically the same transistor from two different mfrs.

I've never seen noise charts for the 2SC2383/KSC2383, and frankly I wouldn't use them in a phono or tape head preamp. Good for voltage gain stage in audio power amp though.

Reviving an old thread, I'm looking for some 2SC2240 equivalents from Mouser, and Mouser is out of the KSC1845. Any suggestions?

KSC2383 and KSC690A will work, but I'm not sure they are as low noise.

If you can't find any, send me a PM and I can hook you up with a dozen or so from my last purchase.

This is one of those unexpected situations where buying 100 devices at $0.06 back in Jan each instead of the 8 that I actually need at $0.21 each makes me feel less stupid.
