By running the amp up to clipping with an 8 ohm and a 4 ohm load, and leaving it there for a few minutes (a power bandwidth test isn't a bad idea as well). If it can handle that, I'm pretty convinced that the parts are good.

Hi everybody, specially EW and best newyear 2013 wishes from France !...
I think EW remembers me at the time i had to repair the output stage of my Sansui AU-9500 last april...
He suggested to me to use On-Semi transistors from a reliable seller : i did it and no regret at all, my amp is still sounding great u to now.
So don't hesitate to follow EW's advices...! He knows about this stuff !

The original outputs were discontinued many years ago, but On-Semi makes a number of good replacements, such as the MJ21193G and MJ21194G. These should be purchased only from an authorized reseller such as Mouser or Digikey or Newark.
